About Curtis Inglis:
SACHA: “I saw on his instagram feed that for tricky builds he will tack together the chainstay, BB & dropout as a subassembly –  that way he can make sure the drive train and wheel work.”
GREG: “Does he build a lot of frames?”
SACHA: “I don’t know, he’s full time though…. I’ve always liked his bikes.”
GREG: Me too, they just make sense.”
SACHA: “I’d hit one…”

  1. Sigh. I mean, no offense guys, but Curtis Inglis? Retrotec? Builder for 20 years. NAHBS award winner.

Living in the present is pretty crucial. Knowing who came before you is too.

  2. I know Curtis well and consider him a friend. I’m assuming that you’re taking issue with me saying that I don’t know if he builds a lot of frames, so I’d like to clarify: Among frame builders, that question is not about a person’s level of experience, or his accolades, but more about how business is going for them, is it time consuming for them to build a single frame, or do they have an efficient system, etc.

It sounds like the post was read as being disrespectful. That was a misunderstanding. We at the shop have nothing but respect and love for the man and his bicycles.

For the record, if something is quoted here as being “recently overheard in the shop” it is just a slice of a conversation. It isn’t polished, or edited; just a window into shop life.
